We are told that WebCT is now working.

Please let us know if you are still having challenges.

This new blog was created as a place for students to get information on current situations. The blog is maintained by the communications office, and we are not able to answer specific questions posed by individual students.

If we post something that says that WebCT is now working, but when you try it, it does not work, then that would be a useful comment that we would want to know about.

We do not have the expertise to answer any enrollment questions, etc.

In general, please know that we are reading your comments, we appreciate hearing your thoughts, and we forward your comments to the appropriate department if you are sharing information with us, but we cannot answer most questions, so please accept our apologies when we do not respond.</p

Please be patient just a little longer and everything will be up and running. For those students who were trying to get onto WebCT, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience. Your instructors should be aware that the the service was down all weekend.

Due to the ongoing network issues, there are very few students accessing our services today. We will continue to honor scheduled classes and counseling appointments. (ETS and EOPS are will still be held.)

All other services will close today at 1 p.m.

But please note that the InSite/WebAdvisor student portal is still available!

For those of you who have Friday classes on campus, they will be held as scheduled.

Let’s start with the good news…

The power has been restored to most of the affected buildings on campus. All classes will resume tomorrow as scheduled, including College For Kids.

Only a small number of classes taught in the Forum and the Library Building have been relocated. Please see the link below for more information.

Updated class relocation list – 7-3-13

Now for the not-so-good-news:

The only building that has not been restored is the Library. That is where the server room is, the heart of all our network services including telephones.

What does this mean for DVC?

No internet, no network services, no website, no WiFi and no telephones on campus. The outage also impacts the assessment center, so no assessment tests will be given tomorrow (Wednesday, July 3.) If you had an assessment test scheduled, please go to the website next week to reschedule.

Many of our services to our student rely on our network to be functional. That means that although most student services will be open tomorrow, our ability to serve students may be limited.

Those online classes taught on the Desire2Learn (D2L) platform will be held as usual, but WebCT based classes will also be unavailable.

Network services will not be restored before late Sunday.

The main telephone number is down and we are referring callers to the San Ramon Campus, so callers will be able to access some limited information during business hours: (925) 551-6208

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

Technicians are still evaluating the power issues on campus. We won’t know until later on in the evening what the status will be of tomorrow’s classes and services.

Due to the current network status, all services to students normally open until 7 p.m. this evening will instead close at 5 p.m.

Please check back here after 7 p.m. We will keep you updated with everything that we know. Thank you once again for your patience!
